Lavaca School District’s Local Taskforce on Closing the Achievement Gap is focused on closing the achievement gaps between subgroups that are revealed through state testing Gaps within the district are evident in 2 subgroups. There is a gap in the achievement levels of Students with Disabilities and the General population and also between economically disadvantaged and the General population of students.

The task force is composed of parents, a board member, teachers, administrators, students, a representative of community-based businesses, a resource officer, instructional support personnel, an ELL coordinator, and an LEA special education supervisor. The task force examines parent involvement, student engagement, curriculum, and other wide-ranging issues that have an impact on student achievement and future success.
